Update: Apple's latest update to iPhone includes very similar functionality. Nice for iPhone users, but a tough break for Navizon, who pioneered the technology, and got sand kicked in its face. More: http://www.shaiberger.com/?p=55.

Shai, I agree it looks tough but for now, it appears Apple has purchased a database of WiFi access points. Their WiFi coverage is almost non-existent by comparison with Navizon and Apple has no way to improve their coverage except by finding additional databases to purchase.

If anything, there should be an opportunity here for Navizon, however, I have no connection with either Apple or Navizon, so we'll just have to wait and see.
