I'm returning from the IMTC conference in Germany and this Luftansa plane has WiFi and the Boeing Connexion satellite Internet access system. So, even though it's $29.95 for the (over six hour) flight, it's my first exposure to in flight WiFi and I couldn't resist. My first impressions - pretty marginal! The RF connection is very good (5 bars on a scale of 5), however, on the first hour of the flight (Germany to UK) the satellite connection dropped out repeatedly so the act of registering, paying and logging on actually took more than 30 minutes. Then the RF connection completely disappeared for about ten minutes. Things seemed to have stabilized. Here's the first bandwidth test (159 Kbps):
